Sergio Limonta's 'Panorama' at RISS(E) in Varese
Sergio Limonta (b. 1971, Lecco) presents his solo exhibition 'Panorama' at RISS(E) – ZENTRUM in Varese, on view until May 8, 2016. The show explores the concept of the 'reperto' (artifact) through interventions on space and light. The red tile floor is covered with glossy white adhesive plastic that refracts light. Works such as 'Ring', 'Glassato', and 'Contadina' are made from discarded cardboard containers found on roadsides, deformed by weather and fixed with epoxy resin. Limonta reverses the process of public art: instead of an artist imposing a vision on the urban context, he captures an involuntary interaction with the landscape. 'Contadina' derives from a cardboard box found on a provincial road through farmland, dedicated to Malevič's peasant women.
