Sergio Limonta's Gravity One_fleeting vision at ON-O Gallery

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Sergio Limonta (Lecco, 1973; lives in Brianza and Milan) presents Gravity One_fleeting vision at ON-O Gallery in Milan, an installation featuring 31 turntables on the floor surrounded by stacks of speakers. Each turntable plays a different vinyl record, while the speakers vibrate in unison, creating a sonic sculpture that confuses the identity of the original sounds. Limonta uses magnets and surface applications to disrupt the vinyl notes, producing scratches, skips, and thuds automatically. The altered melodies and piled-up songs generate acoustic waves that tend toward harmony, synchronized with the rhythm of the turntables and the sound of the records. The title combines the names of a 1990s techno track and a piano piece by Prokofiev, both included in the composition. The vinyl playlist also features works by Mozart, disco rhythm tracks, unedited sample audio never commercialized, and a best of Maria Callas. The exhibition runs until May 20, 2011.
