Serge Fauchereau's Autobiographical 'Les Petits Âges' Published

André Dimanche éditeur has published Serge Fauchereau's latest book, 'Les Petits Âges', an autobiographical work exploring his childhood and adolescence in Mareuil-sur-Lay, Vendée. Fauchereau, a prolific critic and art historian with over thirty titles to his name, has written on artists such as Braque, Arp, Kupka, Soupault, Rancillac, Malevitch, Léger, Mondrian, Schulz, and Chaissac, as well as essays on American poetry and major 20th-century movements including Expressionism, Cubism, Dada, and Surrealism. He has organized exhibitions worldwide and cultivated friendships with artists and writers like Beckett, Sarraute, Soupault, Chaissac, Ponge, Tinguely, and Pontus Hulten. The book traces the ordinary yet indelible moments of his early life—first readings (including his 'cher Baudelaire'), first loves, jealousy, discovery of painting, a passion for collecting women's hair, and school friendships—which he credits for shaping his later career. Fauchereau writes, 'Ma vie privée a été chaotique. Je n'ai pas fait fortune,' but Jacques Henric notes that his public life was remarkably rich.
