publication · 2026-04-26

September 2024 sees a wave of new art publications. Enrico Monacelli's 'Bassa Fedeltà' (Nero, €20) explores lo-fi music as a form of resistance to capitalism, referencing Brian Wilson, Félix Guattari, and Mark Fisher. Jean-Yves Jouannais's 'L'uso delle rovine' (Johan & Levi, €16) examines the aesthetics of destruction from Scipio Aemilianus to 20th-century ruins in Berlin, Stalingrad, and Dresden. 'Ipotesi sull’arte italiana' (Quodlibet, €28) collects Roberto Sanesi's critical writings from 1959 to 2000 on Italian contemporary art. 'Wim Wenders: Early Works: 1964–1984' (Lazy Dog, €45) presents 20 black-and-white photographs from Algeria to the US, with an interview by curator Simone Azzoni. The monumental monograph 'Alberto Garutti' (a+mbookstore, €96), edited by Studio Celant, covers the artist's site-specific public works and includes seven unpublished texts. Finally, Roberto Farneti's 'L’occhio della madre' (Castelvecchi, €22) critiques contemporary art as a tool for social distinction.
