Seoul's Audeum Audio Museum Wins Prix Versailles Special Interior Prize

In December 2023, the Audeum Audio Museum in Seoul, South Korea, became the first establishment in the nation to receive the Special Prize for an Interior at the Prix Versailles architecture competition. Opened in June 2024 in Seocho-gu, the museum was designed by Kengo Kuma and Hara Kenya, covering over 11,000 square meters across seven levels. Its façade is adorned with 20,000 vertical aluminum tubes, while the interior showcases wood crafted using a "wooddrapery" technique. Audeum, founded by Michael Chung in honor of his father, is the world's inaugural museum dedicated to audio equipment, highlighting its history since 1877, and features rare items like an Edison phonograph.
