Semiotician Paolo Fabbri Dies at 81
Paolo Fabbri, a distinguished Italian semiologist, passed away in Rimini at the age of 81. He was born on April 17, 1939, in Rimini and pursued his studies in Florence and Paris, where he attended lectures by Roland Barthes. In 2019, Marietti released 'Sul racconto', featuring an unpublished dialogue between Barthes and Fabbri. Fabbri commenced his semiotics teaching career at the University of Florence in 1967 and was a co-founder of the International Center for Semiotics and Linguistics in Urbino in 1970. His professional journey included roles at DAMS in Bologna, IUAV University of Venice, and LUISS in Rome. Among his numerous publications was 'Vedere ad arte. Iconico e Icastico' in 2020.
