Seminários arte!brasileiros Receives 2019 Antônio Bento Prize from ABCA

The Seminários –Arte!Brasileiros, an initiative launched in 2010 alongside the bilingual print magazine arte!brasileiros, has been awarded the Prêmio Antônio Bento by the Academia Brasileira de Críticos de Arte (ABCA). The award, granted in 2019, will be formally presented on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Sesc Vila Mariana in São Paulo. The seminars were conceived to build bridges, bringing key international art and culture professionals to Brazil while connecting them directly with impactful national production. They have featured a vast array of participants, including international artists like Alfredo Jaar, Voluspa Jarpa, and Denilson Baniwa, curators such as João Fernandes from the Reina Sofía and Jochen Voltz, and thinkers like Peter Pelbart and Christian Dunker. Institutions like Garage Museum of Contemporary Art (Russia), Guggenheim Liverpool, Videobrasil, Inhotim, the São Paulo Biennial, MASP, Itaú Cultural, and Sesc have been represented. The most recent event, the I Seminário Latino-americano, was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in partnership with BIENALSUR and the university UNTREF. The project's collaborators include journalist and art critic Fabio Cypriano and Eliane Massae.
