SELVA Festival Brings Performance Art to Rome's Public Parks

SELVA, a new festival in Rome, is set to celebrate theater, dance, music, and circus arts, with the goal of fostering social connections and cultural engagement in urban parks. Organized by the artistic group Margine Operativo, the event takes place at Parco di Torre del Fiscale (via dell’Acquedotto Felice) and will continue until April 21, 2024. Attendees can enjoy free performances and activities featuring artists and companies like Campsirago Residenza, Alessandro D’Alessandro, and Madame Rebiné. The festival includes 5 days of performances and 3 days of workshops focused on dance in nature, storytelling, and children's movement. Artistic directors Alessandra Ferraro and Pako Graziani view SELVA as part of their ongoing research into contemporary performing arts in public spaces, building on their previous festival, 'Attraversamenti Multipli,' initiated in 2001. This initiative is supported by funding from Roma Capitale in partnership with Zètema Progetto Cultura. Margine Operativo also advocates for the rights of performing arts workers and promotes contemporary culture.
