Selinunte Archaeological Park hosts dawn lyrical music experience

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

CoopCulture, in collaboration with the Regional Department of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity led by Alberto Samonà, is organizing a unique multisensory experience at the Selinunte Archaeological Park in Sicily. On August 17 and 21, 2022, visitors can enter the park before dawn (meeting between 4:30 and 4:40 AM) to witness sunrise filtering through the Doric columns of the temples, accompanied by live lyrical music. The performance features sopranos Federica Maggì and Emanuela Sala, tenors Luciano Giambra and Hang Chan Hui, Maurizio Maiorana on winds and percussion, Manuel Scarano on guitar, and Marcello Iozzia on piano. The musical dramaturgy is by Giovanni Mazzara, creator of the 2019 Palermo walking tour "Buongiorno Notte." The narrative path unfolds through Temple F from west to east. The event coincides with the recent discovery of the ancient agora of Selinunte, measuring nearly 33,000 square meters, making it the largest in the world. Tickets are €22. The park has a busy summer calendar of multidisciplinary events including theater, music, and a concert by German electronic music producer Paul Kalkbrenner in front of Temple E.
