Self Esteem to Make Cinematic Debut in 1980s Film 'Mountain'

Rebecca Lucy Taylor, known as Self Esteem, has landed her debut significant film role in the forthcoming movie 'Mountain', a coming-of-age tale set in 1980s Wales. Directed by Celyn Jones, filming took place in his native Holyhead on Anglesey. The cast features Peter Mullan, Iwan Rheon, and Seth Isaac Thomas alongside Taylor. The narrative centers on a neglected boy in 1980s Wales who discovers friendship and community through a man living in solitude on a mountain. Jones, who completed the project earlier this year, described it as 'an emotional and spiritual homecoming'. He expressed to Variety his pride in assembling a world-class team in north Wales, highlighting the film's relatable emotional themes and humor. Peter Mullan, who collaborated with Jones on 'The Vanishing', was moved by the script, stating, 'You made me cry, I'm in!' Taylor, recognized for songs like 'Focus Is Power' and 'I Do This All The Time', has also graced the West End in 'Cabaret' in 2023 and appeared in 'Teeth 'n' Smiles' earlier this year. She has been featured in the Sky Comedy series 'Smothered' and the drama 'I Hate Suzie'. An official release date for 'Mountain' is still pending.
