SeiMilano urban regeneration project documented in Milan photography exhibition
A photography exhibition at Triennale di Milano, running until October 27, 2024, documents the five-year transformation of SeiMilano, a 330,000-square-meter mixed-use urban regeneration project in Milan's southwestern periphery. Curated by Benedetta Donato, the show features 40 photographs by the Urban Reports collective—researcher Viviana Rubbo and photographers Alessandro Guida, Davide Curatola Soprana, and Isabella Sassi Farìas—who documented the project from 2019. The development, a collaboration between Borio Mangiarotti and German firm Värde Partners, was designed by MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects with a 16-hectare public park by Michel Desvigne Paysagiste (MDP). The first regenerated lot opened in October 2023. The exhibition highlights three core objectives: integration with the city, urban context, and diverse functions within the complex. The project embodies a contemporary garden-city concept, featuring 84,000 square meters of new residences, 26,000 square meters of tertiary buildings, and 8,000 square meters of commercial spaces, alongside public buildings and open spaces. The photographic narrative aims to reveal the invisible aspects of transformation, fostering a dialogue based on reciprocity, participation, and empathy with the complex reality.
