Seeyousound festival goes itinerant, creates Italian music film network

festival-fair · 2026-05-04

Seeyousound, Italy's first music-themed film festival, founded in Turin in 2015 by the Choobamba association, is expanding into a traveling format called Seeyousound Music Film Experience. The festival, which runs its fifth edition in Turin from January 25 to February 3, 2019, will now also take place in Pisa (October 23-27), Palermo (November 8-11), and Lecce (November 28-December 1) under the name SYS On The Road. Maurizio Pisani, general director, is handing over the Turin festival to film journalist Carlo Griseri, who has been with the event since its start. The itinerant project aims to create a national network of music film festivals, increasing critical mass and distribution opportunities for national and international productions. Each stop will feature national premieres, selections from past Turin editions, and training initiatives developed with local cultural organizations. In Pisa, the festival collaborates with Cineclub Arsenale and Lumiere Pisa; in Palermo, with Polo Museo D'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea Palazzo Belmonte Riso and Goethe Institut; in Lecce, with Apulia Film Commission. Sara Valentino, local director for Lecce, emphasized the goal of building a strong network with local music, audiovisual, and cultural entities, offering audiences an unprecedented look at music cinema.
