SEE MONSTER: dismesso impianto petrolifero diventa parco pubblico futuribile in Inghilterra

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

A disused oil platform has been transformed into SEE MONSTER, a public park focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) at the Tropicana, a 1930s lido in Weston-super-Mare. This initiative repurposes industrial heritage into an educational and creative landmark, featuring gardens, waterfalls, gathering spaces, guided tours, and performances centered on British nature and climate. Artistic direction is led by Patrick O'Mahony and Ollie Howitt, supported by a multidisciplinary team. SEE MONSTER is part of UNBOXED: Creativity, a UK creative program funded by four English governments in partnership with Belfast City Council, Creative Wales, and EventScotland. The park is set to open at the end of summer 2022.
