Secret Arts Teachers: Art Education as Community Practice
In the latest edition of Mister Motley's series on Secret Arts Teachers, music educator Vera van L. from Joure involved her students in a project focused on constructing truth, leading to the creation of fictional narratives, AI-generated sounds and visuals, as well as musical compositions. She observed a trend towards collaborative equality and expressed admiration for Les Misérables for its insights. Meanwhile, theater instructor Amber T. from Dordrecht guided third-year vwo students in a three-week initiative titled 'activism of doubt,' which resulted in life-sized photographs and a soundscape filled with whispered uncertainties. T. was pleasantly surprised by the students' positivity and emphasized the importance of utilizing the school as a resource. Both educators noted a rise in risk-taking.
