Second Summer of Love film trilogy premieres in Italy at Centro Pecci

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The Centro per l'arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato is set to showcase the trilogy of artist films titled Second Summer of Love from November 6 to 25, 2018. This marks the first time these films will be shown in Italy. Created by Gucci and Frieze, the films, directed by Wu Tsang, Jeremy Deller, and Josh Blaaberg, explore the rave scene and electronic music of the 1980s. They previously debuted at Gucci's SoHo store in New York and at the Frieze Art Fair in London. The screening aligns with the museum's 30th anniversary. Deller's film examines acid house's rise amid social upheaval, while Tsang highlights New York's queer music scene, and Blaaberg reflects on 1980s Italian disco. Director Cristiana Perrella noted the museum's musical history and mentioned the outdoor theater's restoration for the Pecci Summer Live series.
