Second edition of The Photo Solstice on Asinara island

The Photo Solstice, a photography school located on Sardinia's Asinara island, will hold its second edition from June 20 to 22, 2019, emphasizing cross-disciplinary interaction. Twenty photographers, chosen through an open call, will receive scholarships from the Fondazione di Sardegna and the Regional Department of Tourism, Crafts, and Commerce. The program, directed by Marco Delogu, will include contributions from philosopher Giorgio Agamben and writer Edoardo Albinati, among others. Activities will encompass lectures, discussions, and hands-on workshops centered around the island's rich history. Public events are scheduled for June 21 and 22 at Cala d'Oliva. Participants will produce a photographic project about the island, with backing from Fondazione Sardegna Film Commission. Asinara’s intricate past includes its use as a quarantine station and prison until 1997.
