Second Edition of Edi Global Forum in Naples Expands Museum Education Network

The second edition of Edi Global Forum, promoted by Fondazione Morra Greco, took place in Naples from October 24 to 27, 2023. Project manager Francesca Cocco reported that the forum was held in the historic center, transforming the foundation into a headquarters for the Edi community. Participation more than doubled, with an expanded national and regional audience including associations and university students. Keynote speakers included Peggy Brandon on creating a slavery museum in Amsterdam, Brad Irwin on the Natural History Museum of London's response to climate crisis, and Jeffrey Schnapp of Harvard's MetaLab on shifting museum missions from collections to connections. Topics covered wellbeing & justice, digital transformation, and climate crisis. Venues included Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli, Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte, Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, Accademia di Belle Arti, Fondazione Morra Greco, and new locations like Vivaio Calvanese, Piazza Garibaldi, and Chiesa di San Paolo Apostolo a Caivano. Plans for Edi 2024 include extending the forum to other cities, creating online and in-person training for museum educators, and involving artists, curators, and third-sector associations across Campania.
