Second Edition of al BAR.co Artist Residency at Barco Ducale in Urbania

artist · 2026-04-27

The second edition of al BAR.co took place at Barco Ducale in Urbania (Pesaro Urbino), showcasing ten emerging illustrators from the Scuola del Libro di Urbino, chosen for their artistic promise. Organized by Elisa Mossa, Magda Guidi, and Lorenzo Kamerlengo, the residency emphasized travel and dialogue, culminating in an artist's book featuring illustrations based on texts by Ascanio Celestini. Barco Ducale, a historical complex from the 15th century, now serves as a venue for workshops and conferences. The first group, including Carola Rossi, Omar Cheikh, Samuele Canestrari, Giulia Marcolini, and Ahmed Ben Nessib, participated from August 23–25, while the second group—Eugenio Carlini, Anthony Valenti, Viola Bartoli, Alessandra Romagnoli, and Giuseppe Scala—was present from August 27–29. The residency aims to uplift artists from overlooked areas, with the upcoming theme yet to be revealed.
