Secolo and Tableau debut collaborative furniture at Milan design week's Soft Matters installation
During Milan design week, the Soft Matters installation highlights a partnership between the Italian company Secolo and the Danish design studio Tableau, presenting innovative furniture designs. Julius Værnes Iversen, the founder of Tableau, utilized his ten years of experience with blind-drawn floral designs to create distinctive patterns on Secolo's Pingu Side Table before applying a lacquer finish. He also crafted the Trace sofa, characterized by its flowing shape, to encourage conversation. This event runs from April 20 to 26, 2026, at Via Giuseppe Giacosa 35 in Milan, Italy, featuring industrial foam blocks that mimic butter, made from Secolo's factory remnants intended for recycling. This collaboration marks Secolo's inaugural venture with an external designer. Tableau, known for its design gallery and flower shop in Copenhagen, usually takes part in 3 Days of Design but considers Milan a venue for broader exposure and enhanced PR. Additionally, Secolo introduced the Plumea armchair, which boasts pillow-like upholstery. The building's facade is adorned with whimsical floral artwork, and photography is credited to Frank Stelitano.
