Scripta Festival 2018 Returns to Florence with Focus on Art Criticism

The 2018 edition of Scripta Festival, an independent event organized by Libreria Brac in Florence, will take place from October 4 to 6. Curated by Pietro Gaglianò, the festival centers on the power of the written word and art criticism. Gaglianò emphasizes the role of critical thinking in contemporary society, drawing on Antonio Gramsci's idea that every person is an intellectual. The program includes talks by ten authors, including artist Daniela Comani, Serena Carbone, Flaminio Gualdoni, Christian Caliandro, Bruno Di Marino, Ilaria Bernardi, and Gianni Pettena. Performances include a theater piece by Fanny & Alexander and a concert by OoopopoiooO. Two installations by Comani are featured: 'Best Book Titles' at Libreria BRAC and 'Novità editoriali' at Museo Marino Marini, which is temporarily reopened for the festival despite ongoing renovations. Museum president Patrizia Asproni announced that the museum will reopen fully by November, with free permanent collection access and paid temporary exhibitions. The festival also pays homage to Jannis Kounellis with Bruno Corà present.
