Screening: What Bodies Keep – bewegte Bilder aus Südkorea

The Belvedere in Vienna presents a short film program titled 'What Bodies Keep – bewegte Bilder aus Südkorea', featuring works by South Korean women artists from the past decade. The program explores the relationship between body, identity, and social power structures, examining how political, economic, and social conditions are inscribed in the body and can give rise to forms of resistance, solidarity, and care. The screening is organized in collaboration with SONGEUN, a non-profit contemporary art institution in Seoul dedicated to supporting emerging and established Korean artists. The event will be held in English and is curated by Stefanie Reisinger and Anna Ewa Dyrko, with project coordination by Anna Ewa Dyrko and HongEun Kwon. The film program includes seven works: 'BJ Cherry Jang 2018.4' (2018) by Sungsil Ryu, 'Auspicious practice' (2020) by Yo-E Ryou, 'Resilient Feet' (2023) by Bomroya, 'X-hale' (2023) by Aram Lee, 'Whistlers' (2023) by Bona Park, 'Botanic Drum' (2024) by Seung Ae Lee, and 'Flower Patterned Romance' (2014) by Youngjoo Cho. The screening takes place at the Blickle Kino in the Belvedere, with free admission but requiring a ticket. The event is part of the Belvedere's ongoing engagement with contemporary art and international perspectives.
