Scorribanda: 60 Years of L'Attico Gallery at La Galleria Nazionale

The exhibition 'Scorribanda' at La Galleria Nazionale in Rome celebrates the 60th anniversary of L'Attico gallery, founded in 1957 by Bruno Sargentini in Piazza di Spagna. Curated by Fabio Sargentini, the founder's son, the show presents about forty works from the late 1950s to today by artists associated with the gallery. The installation in the Salone Centrale eliminates gaps between paintings, creating a continuous narrative that resembles a single site-specific artwork. This arrangement, described by Sargentini as 'a story without pauses,' produces a kaleidoscopic effect, with works ranging from Mario Mafai to Luigi Ontani, Leoncillo, Nataly Maier, Luca Patella, and Hidetoshi Nagasawa. Sculptures in the center of the room offer a visual break. The gallery gained international fame shortly after opening, known for avant-garde research and experimental activities, notably Jannis Kounellis's 1969 exhibition with live horses in the Via Beccaria garage space. The exhibition runs at La Galleria Nazionale in Rome, with the installation view dating to 2018.
