SCOB Designs Open-Air Theater in Catalonia's Historic Santa Clotilde Gardens for 2025
An open-air theater designed by the architecture firm SCOB is planned for the historic Santa Clotilde Gardens in Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, with completion targeted for 2025. The project, led by architects Sergi Carulla and Oscar Blasco of SCOB, introduces a 5,500-square-meter architectural intervention into one of Catalonia's most emblematic historical landscapes. Curated by Valentina Díaz, the design team includes Jordi Llort, with Noguera Dissenys as the general contractor. Engineering and consultancy involve Debid for civil engineering and Pere Cortes for quantity surveying. The theater is conceived in continuity with the garden's existing Noucentista principles—order, clarity, and a deep relationship with the landscape—carefully interacting with its context. Rather than transforming the existing spatial logic, the project aims to extend it, integrating a new performance space for the arts within the preserved garden setting. The architectural intervention is documented through photography by Judith Casas. This project falls under the categories of landscape and architecture as well as performing arts, representing a significant addition to the cultural infrastructure of the region.
