Savona's CONNEXXION Festival Explores Freedom Through Contemporary Art
The upcoming CONNEXXION festival, curated by Livia Savorelli, will take place in Savona, Italy, from April 20 to 27, 2024. This city is vying for the title of Italian Capital of Culture 2027. The festival's theme, "...per essere liberi. Tra identità e memoria," seeks to challenge nationalism and conflict through various cultural expressions. A total of twelve artists, such as Alessio Barchitta and Giulia Nelli, will showcase performances, exhibitions, and workshops. Important locations for the event include the former Sant'Agostino prison and Piazza Martiri della Libertà, which will honor the 50th anniversary of Agenore Fabbri's Monument to the Resistance. Notable projects include Silvia Margaria's "Bandite" performance and Davide Dormino's "Semi" installation, which features a quote from Dinos Christianopoulos.
