Saverio Costanzo's 'Finalmente l'alba' Premieres at Venice Film Festival

Saverio Costanzo's new film 'Finalmente l'alba' premiered in competition at the 80th Venice International Film Festival. The story follows Mimosa, a shy Roman girl who becomes an extra in a major international production shooting at Cinecittà's Via Tuscolana studios, experiencing a wild night. The cast includes Rebecca Antonaci, Lily James, Joe Keery, Rachel Sennott, Alba Rohrwacher, and Willem Dafoe. Costanzo's first theatrical film since 2014's 'Hungry Hearts' (which won Volpi Cups for Adam Driver and Alba Rohrwacher at Venice 71) draws on the real-life cold case of Wilma Montesi, a 21-year-old film extra whose disappearance scandalized 1950s Italy. Jury president Damien Chazelle may find parallels with his own 'Babylon'. The film is a nostalgic, monumental coming-of-age story and homage to Italian cinema, set to release in Italian theaters on December 14 via 01 Distribution.
