Saul Steinberg Retrospective at Triennale Milano
Triennale Milano is showcasing a retrospective on Saul Steinberg (1914–1999), curated by Marco Belpoliti, which includes 350 pieces and documents. The exhibition's design, crafted by Italo Lupi, Ico Migliore, and Mara Servetto, complements the architecture of Giovanni Muzio. Highlighted are four ten-meter-long preparatory drawings created for the 10th Triennale in 1954, etched as sgraffiti in the Labirinto dei ragazzi, designed by BBPR. These works are part of a recent contribution to the Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense from the Saul Steinberg Foundation. A Romanian Jew, Steinberg studied architecture in Milan (1933–1941) before escaping to the US, where he became a prominent illustrator for The New Yorker. The exhibition also features a mobile by Alexander Calder and a book published by Electa.
