Sauerbruch Hutton and Taeg Nishimoto Exhibitions at Arc en rêve, Bordeaux

architecture-design · 2026-04-23

Arc en rêve centre d'architecture in Bordeaux, France, hosted two concurrent exhibitions from 19 October 2001 to 20 January 2002 (Sauerbruch Hutton) and 15 November 2001 to 6 January 2002 (Taeg Nishimoto). The Sauerbruch Hutton exhibition, titled WYSIWYG + (What You See Is What You Get), presented eleven recent projects by the Berlin- and London-based architects Matthias Sauerbruch and Louisa Hutton, including the Photonics Centre (1998) in Berlin, the EFM experimental factory (2001) in Magdeburg, and the German headquarters of the British Council (2000) in Berlin. The exhibition highlighted their elegant use of materials, color, and light, achieving a balance between functional quality and aesthetic allure. Taeg Nishimoto's installation, Re-f(r)action n°5, featured a series of wooden arcs suspended by steel cables, exploring spatial awareness through a dialogue between rational and intuitive elements. The exhibitions were organized in cooperation with Galerie d'architecture in Paris. Didier Arnaudet wrote the accompanying text.
