Saudi Ministry of Culture presents cartography exhibition in Venice

The Saudi Ministry of Culture has announced 'A Necessary Fiction: Maps, Art, and Models of Our World', an exhibition opening at the Abbazia di San Gregorio in Venice from May 6 to November 22. Curated by Sara Almutlaq and Aurora Fonda, with associate curators Zaira Carrer and Amina Diab, the show features historical maps from the thirteenth century to the present. Exhibition designers Ibrahim Kombarji and Bianca Pedron collaborate to create a dynamic perspective on cartography. The exhibition examines humanity's enduring need to model the world through mythological visions and scientific inquiry.
