Saudi Contemporary Art Debuts in Rio de Janeiro

The traveling group exhibition 'Art of the Kingdom' opened today at Paço Imperial in Rio de Janeiro, marking the first showcase of Saudi contemporary art in Brazil. Curated by Diana Wechsler, the inaugural edition titled 'Poetic Illuminations' features 17 Saudi artists across generations, presenting paintings, installations, and video works. The exhibition explores themes of desert as space and cultural tradition, aiming to foster cross-cultural dialogue. It will tour globally starting 2025, with a stop at the National Museum of China in Beijing. Mona Khazindar, Advisor to Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture, emphasized art's unifying power. The exhibition is organized by the Museums Commission of the Saudi Ministry of Culture.
