Satoshi Kondo designs costumes for Némo Flouret's ballet Derniers Feux

Satoshi Kondo, the designer behind Issey Miyake's womenswear line since 2019, created vibrant costumes for French choreographer Némo Flouret's contemporary ballet Derniers Feux (Last Light). The work premiered at the 79th Festival d'Avignon in summer 2025 and is now touring internationally, with performances at Paris' Grand Palais in June 2026 and upcoming shows in Charleroi, Belgium on 18 and 19 September 2026. Kondo and Flouret had previously collaborated on Issey Miyake's S/S 2024 and A/W 2025 womenswear shows, where Flouret staged dynamic performances. For Derniers Feux, Kondo designed colorful knitted sweaters with circular 'peep holes' and trousers with extra hanging 'legs', some pieces doubling as set elements. The costumes draw on the vivid color and technical construction of Kondo's Issey Miyake collections. Flouret describes the piece as 'a reverie on the ephemeral and the immaterial', featuring ten performers on a scaffold structure, culminating in a pyrotechnic firework display. Kondo was inspired by the 'in-depth engagement with the human body' and 'rigorous physicality' of Flouret's work.
