exhibition · 2026-04-26

Nexo Studios is bringing Satoshi Kon's final film 'Paprika – Sognando un sogno' to Italian cinemas from February 17 to 20, 2025, in a newly restored 4K version. The film originally premiered at the 63rd Venice Film Festival in 2006 and is based on the novel by Yasutaka Tsutsui. It follows Dr. Atsuko Chiba/Paprika as she uses the DC Mini technology to help Lieutenant Toshimi Konakawa overcome a recurring dream. The score is by Susumu Hirasawa. Kon, born in Sapporo in 1963 and died in Tokyo in 2010, is considered a master of Japanese animation, influencing filmmakers like Mamoru Hosoda and many overseas directors. Nexo Studios also distributed Kon's 'Perfect Blue' in 2024. In February, they will also release 'Le pene d'amore di Spank' (1982) from February 13 to 16, based on characters by Shun'ichi Yukimuro and Shizue Takanashi.
