Satirical exhibition at ICA London skewers financial crisis and art world

exhibition · 2026-04-29

The Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London presents 'Genuine Fake Premium Economy', a multi-media exhibition running from 1 May to 5 July 2025, featuring three emerging US artists born in the mid-1980s: Jenna Bliss, Buck Ellison, and Jasmine Gregory. Each artist critically examines the societal and economic fallout of the 2008 financial crisis through satirical works. Jasmine Gregory's video installation 'Deliver Us From Evil' and 'Investment Pieces' series repurpose Patek Philippe advertisements to critique inheritance, exclusivity, and capitalism's core values. Jenna Bliss's film 'True Entertainment' is set in a fictional art fair, using a sitcom structure to expose art world stereotypes and draw parallels to derivatives trading. Buck Ellison presents walnut-framed lightboxes advertising a fictional private bank, Orlo & Co, manipulating Adam Smith's teachings and employing corporate aesthetics to examine wealth and legitimacy. The exhibition is curated by the ICA and supported by FELIX GAUDLITZ.
