Saremo AI Music Festival: 27 virtual singers compete in first AI-created music festival

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

The Saremo AI Music Festival, launched by Bologna-based company LOOP, is the first music festival entirely created by artificial intelligence. Running from February 7 to April 3, 2025, the online event features 27 virtual characters, each with a unique biography, musical style, and AI-managed social media account. All content—songs, lyrics, images, and social interactions—is generated by generative AI using deep neural networks trained on vast datasets. Each virtual singer is managed by a dedicated AI agent that posts daily and adjusts communication strategies based on rankings and user reactions. Dynamic rankings, gossip, scandals, and news are also AI-generated. The public can vote, comment, and interact, influencing the competition. The festival aims to provoke debate about creativity in the age of AI, asking what it means for art and culture when machines can produce emotionally resonant works. Participants include characters named Gigaflop, Flanella, Lola Colangelo, Monaco di Lamiera, and Don Pedro.
