Sarah Sze and Sara Enrico at OGR Torino: Distopia of the Present

exhibition · 2026-04-27

A dual solo exhibition by Sarah Sze (Boston, 1969) and Sara Enrico (Biella, 1979) is on view at Officine Grandi Riparazioni (OGR) in Turin, curated by Samuele Piazza. The show explores themes of relationship and time through images and the body. Sze presents a large environmental installation first staged in 2023 in the waiting room of London's Peckham Rye station, now occupying the former OGR train shed. The work, a metallic cosmos blending sculpture and media device, questions the nature and origin of images, placing the viewer in a cybernetic kaleidoscope between public and actor, sender and receiver. Sound from a metronome and heartbeat measures time, while projections cover the walls, evoking a modern Plato's cave. Enrico's Tainted Lovers series presents bodies—human and non-human, desiring, contaminated, in constant transformation—that have abandoned verticality to collapse on the ground as fragments of exhausted, unproductive humanity, positioned between organic and artificial. The two exhibitions together investigate what determines and conditions our present, with bodies and images developing an anomalous evolution of contemporaneity in an impossible dialogue between sign and meaning.
