Sarah Lehrer-Graiwer Lecture on Lee Lozano's Dropout Piece at Midway Contemporary Art
On Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 4:00 PM, writer and curator Sarah Lehrer-Graiwer delivered a lecture at Midway Contemporary Art in Minneapolis on Lee Lozano's Dropout Piece, part of Afterall's One Work book series. Dropout Piece, begun around 1970, marked Lozano's self-imposed exile from the art world, transforming her from insider to outsider. Lehrer-Graiwer, based in Los Angeles, drew from Lozano's private notebooks to argue that the piece persists as oral history, ephemera, and fantasy, advancing the relationship between language and performance. The event was free and open to the public.
