Sarah Cosulich Unveils New Quadriennale Initiatives: Q-International and Q-Rated

Sarah Cosulich, the new director of the Quadriennale di Roma, has outlined a transformative three-part project for the institution. The initiatives include a 2020 exhibition, Q-International (supporting Italian art abroad), and Q-Rated (educational workshops). Q-International will provide limited financial support to foreign institutions presenting Italian artists, covering travel, hospitality, and publication costs, modeled after the Mondrian Fund (Netherlands), Iaspis (Sweden), and Pro Helvetia (Switzerland). A committee comprising Cristiana Collu, Alberto Garutti, Cesare Pietroiusti, and Andrea Viliani will select projects twice a year. Q-Rated targets artists and curators aged 21–32, offering three annual workshops in different Italian cities, plus a public symposium in Rome. The Quadriennale aims to become a permanent agency for Italian art, complementing the Italian Council by covering smaller expenses. Stefano Collicelli Cagol has been appointed curator to coordinate the three-year initiatives. Cosulich emphasizes a long-term strategy to redefine the Quadriennale's identity as a proactive institution with a regular program, moving beyond its historical role as a periodic exhibition.
