Sarah Brahim's First Solo Exhibition at Bally Foundation
The Bally Foundation in Lugano, Switzerland, presents 'Sometimes we are eternal', the first solo exhibition by Saudi-American artist Sarah Brahim, opening this autumn. The show features ten new installations—including video, sound, photographs, and sculptures—created specifically for the Villa Heleneum. The title is borrowed from philosopher Alain Badiou, evoking a feeling of eternity that bridges the finite and infinite. Brahim's work explores memory, imagination, and physicality, inspired by figures such as Lawrence and Anna Halprin, Pauline Oliveros, Aldo Rossi, Moshe Feldenkrais, and Philippe Descola. Trained as a dancer, she creates a 'pas de deux' between body and alterity, moving from the physical to the 'intrabody'. The exhibition follows the foundation's inaugural group show 'Un lac inconnu' and is built around an intimate landscape shaped by a personal loss, marking both an arrival and a new beginning.
