Sara Sozzani Maino Launches Sozzani Award for Women in Design and Craft

Sara Sozzani Maino, Creative Director of Fondazione Sozzani and former Deputy Editor of Vogue Italia, has launched the first edition of the Sozzani Award, dedicated to women in design and contemporary craftsmanship. The award, developed in collaboration with Veuve Clicquot, closed its call for entries and will announce winners in September 2026. Future editions will open to all genders and rotate categories, including photography and fashion. The prize includes a monetary award and a scholarship for education or community benefit. Maino, daughter of Carla Sozzani (founder of Fondazione Sozzani) and niece of Franca Sozzani (former editor of Vogue Italia), has built a career as a talent scout through initiatives like Who Is On Next? with AltaRoma and Vogue Talents. She emphasizes the importance of freedom, responsibility, and time in nurturing creative talent, advocating for a slower, more sustainable fashion system. The Fondazione Sozzani, with locations in Via Bovisasca and Via Tazzoli in Milan, serves as an interdisciplinary space for photography, art, design, and fashion. Maino calls for greater support for emerging generations and a radical change in production practices.
