Sara Sejin Chang Wins €100,000 Theodora Niemeijer Prize for Mid-Career Female Artists
Sara Sejin Chang, who is also recognized as Sara van der Heide, has been awarded the Theodora Niemeijer Prize, which honors mid-career female artists in the Netherlands every two years. The jury highlighted Chang's 2020 film installation 'Four Months, Four Million Light Years' for its exploration of colonial narratives within transnational adoption. Juror Zippora Elders praised her for challenging Eurocentric perspectives. The jury featured Ansuya Blom, Andrea Davina, Zippora Elders, and Charles Esche. Chang is currently a fellow in the Berlin Artistic Research Grant Programme (2022-2023) and has shown her work at various venues, including Moderna Museet and Centraal Museum.
