Sara Ricciardi's Serotonin Installation Transforms Pinacoteca di Brera During Milan Design Week 2026

architecture-design · 2026-04-21

During Milan Design Week 2026, from April 21 to 26, Sara Ricciardi's installation, 'Serotonin – The Chemistry of Happiness,' will transform the loggiato of Milan's Pinacoteca di Brera into an interactive space. This inflatable structure engages with the historic courtyard's design, mirroring rhythms of breath and heartbeat. In collaboration with American Express Italy, it employs light, color, and sound to evoke sensory experiences. Ricciardi refers to it as an 'organic sculpture' that portrays happiness as a fleeting biological reaction. Featuring optical patterns and chromatic gradients, the installation highlights the ephemeral essence of happiness while addressing issues of overstimulation and emotional exhaustion. It will be open daily from 9:30 AM to 6:45 PM at via Brera 28, as part of Fuorisalone 2026.
