Sara Enrico's Jumpsuits Invade Villa Reale Gardens for Furla Series

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The seventh edition of Furla Series takes over the gardens of Milan's Galleria d'Arte Moderna (GAM) with a site-specific exhibition by Italian artist Sara Enrico (born 1979, Biella). For the first time, the show abandons the interior rooms of Villa Reale to expand across the entire garden, among trees, flowerbeds, and geese. Enrico presents her iconic Jumpsuit sculptures—pigmented concrete casts inspired by the T-shaped overall invented by Futurist Thayaht in 1919—placed on the terrace and at the Tempio d'Amore. The exhibition also includes reworked tree trunks from a monumental hackberry felled by a storm in 2023, now suspended on iron supports; twenty-three elements of 'Beyond the Skin' covered in multicolored technical fabric that captures scanner light; and a series of glass and cement works resembling shells with geological exteriors and garment-like interiors. Enrico's practice explores the relationship between body, clothing, and space, using materials like nylon, cement, and industrial fabrics. The exhibition runs at GAM Milano, with recent appearances at Vistamare in early 2025.
