Sara Cox to host BBC Radio 2 breakfast show

other · 2026-05-01

Sara Cox will replace Scott Mills as host of BBC Radio 2's breakfast show, taking over in summer 2025. Cox, 51, currently presents the drivetime slot she has hosted since 2019. She called the appointment "a dream" and a "full circle" moment. Gary Davies has been covering the show since Mills was dismissed on March 27 after the BBC received new information related to a police investigation into alleged historic sexual offences. Mills was investigated between 2016 and 2019 over an allegation involving a boy under 16, with no charges brought. The BBC stated new details led to his sacking. Cox raised £11.5 million for Children in Need in 2024 by running 135 miles. She becomes the station's second female breakfast host after Zoe Ball. Radio 2 chief Helen Thomas said Cox "thoroughly deserves this gig." The new drivetime host will be announced later.
