São Paulo Biennial Launches Educational Publication and Deana Lawson Solo in Switzerland
The 34th São Paulo Biennial has launched its educational publication 'Primeiros ensaios' and organized three related online conversations. On June 10, a discussion will focus on the Bendegó meteorite, found in Bahia in 1784, featuring curator Maria Elizabeth Zucolotto and indigenous artist Gustavo Caboco. The following day, professor Christine Greiner and artist Eleonora Fabião will discuss a 1750 bell from Ouro Preto. On June 12, journalist Nabor Jr. and artist Daniel de Paula will address the legacy of Frederick Douglass. Concurrently, American photographer Deana Lawson opens a new solo exhibition, 'Centropy,' at Kunsthalle Basel in Switzerland. The show, commissioned by the Bienal Foundation, features a new series shot in Salvador, exploring African diasporas through meticulously staged yet intimate images of dress, daily habits, and domestic interiors. The online version of 'Primeiros ensaios' is now available for download.
