Sant'Orsola ex-convent in Florence reopens for 4 months with 'Rivelazioni' exhibition
The former Sant'Orsola convent in Florence's historic center, undergoing restoration since 2023, reopens for four months with the exhibition 'Rivelazioni' starting June 28. Curated by Morgane Lucquet Laforgue, director of the future Museo Sant'Orsola, the show features site-specific works by artists Juliette Minchin and Marta Roberti. Minchin, a graduate of École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, uses wax drapes and veils in the former pharmacy and external church, evoking the Baroque era. She also coats pillars with wax and wicks that burn during opening hours. Roberti, with a philosophy degree from the University of Verona and a diploma from Brera Academy, presents drawings in the internal church and underground infirmary (accessible for the first time), using backlighting and stop-motion video to reflect on 14th-century nuns' lives. The exhibition runs Monday to Friday 5-9 PM, Saturday and Sunday 10 AM-9 PM. The completed complex will house a museum, art and design school, restaurant, literary café, wine bar, and artisan workshops including an artist residency.
