Sanja Marušić's Dreamlike, Hyper-Saturated Portraits

Dutch-Croatian photographer Sanja Marušić (b. 1991) creates surreal portraits and self-portraits with vibrant, intense colors. She blends analog and digital photography with painting and collage, meticulously constructing each scene from handmade costumes to choreographed poses. Her enigmatic visual narratives explore identity, femininity, intimacy, love, and motherhood. Color functions as a perceptual and expressive device, generating emotion and semantic shifts. Marušić graduated with honors from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (KABK) in 2013. Her work has been exhibited in Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin. She has collaborated with Apple Music, Sony, iD, Vice, Air France, Redken, and the Opéra national de Paris. She lives and works in Amsterdam.
