San Francisco's Huntington Hotel Reopens After Major Renovation
The historic Huntington Hotel on Nob Hill in San Francisco has reopened after a comprehensive renovation led by Flynn Properties and Highgate, with interior design by Ken Fulk. Originally founded in 1924 and named after railroad magnate Collis P. Huntington, the 12-story Georgian-style hotel closed at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, providing an opportunity for a thorough reimagining. The renovation revitalized all 143 guest rooms, including 72 suites, as well as The Big Four restaurant and the Nob Hill Spa. The design by Ken Fulk features soothing cream and olive hues, original plasterwork ceilings, and boiserie panels, with views of Grace Cathedral, the San Francisco Bay, and the Pacific Ocean. The Big Four restaurant offers all-day dining with a 72-seat main room, leather banquettes, and a green palette, plus the private Crimson Room. A new 25-seat bar, Arabella's, named after Arabella Duval Huntington, features mahogany wainscoting and a trompe l'oeil ceiling. The Nob Hill Spa spans 9,000 square feet with 12 treatment rooms, saunas, steam rooms, a fitness facility, a terrace, and an indoor-outdoor pool. The hotel aims to blend old-world elegance with modern comfort, appealing to both tourists and local tech visitors.
