San Antonio Philharmonic Settles Lawsuits for $232,000
The San Antonio Philharmonic has agreed to a $232,000 settlement to resolve legal issues, with the payment deadline set for August 7. This sum comprises $215,000 for David Wood and Colette Holt, $10,000 for former board chair Ian Thompson III, and $7,000 for co-founder Peter Rubins. The settlement, which does not involve an admission of guilt, arises from a lawsuit filed by Wood and Holt in September 2024 regarding a $150,000 loan for instruments belonging to the former San Antonio Symphony. Following the payments, lawsuits will be dismissed, and Sherry Rubins will withdraw her EEOC complaints, while Peter Rubins will retract a union complaint. Executive Director Roberto Treviño described the settlement as a prudent financial choice. Meanwhile, a separate case involving the San Antonio Scottish Rite Library is still pending in court.
