Samuel Leuenberger to Curate Art Basel's Parcours Sector in 2016

Samuel Leuenberger will take over as curator of Art Basel's Parcours sector starting with the 2016 edition, succeeding Florence Derieux. The Parcours segment features site-specific sculptures, interventions, and performances that engage with Basel's historical neighborhoods. Leuenberger has directed the non-profit exhibition space SALTS in Birsfelden, Switzerland since 2009. His previous experience includes work with London's Stephen Friedman Gallery and Zurich's Kunsthalle Zürich. In 2014, he served as associate curator for 14 Rooms, a live art exhibition in Basel curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Klaus Biesenbach. Born in Basel, Leuenberger brings local knowledge and international curatorial experience to the position.
