Samsung and British Museum Renew Partnership for Digital Discovery Center

institutional · 2026-05-04

The partnership between Samsung and the British Museum for the Samsung Digital Discovery Center (SDDC) has been extended through 2024. Established in 2009, the SDDC focuses on engaging families and children with the museum's exhibits. In 2018 alone, it attracted 25,000 visitors, contributing to a total of 144,000 since its inception. Currently, around 500 children participate weekly in 19 different activities. The collaboration seeks to enhance family attendance and broaden the virtual visit initiative. A technological upgrade will necessitate the center's closure from July 28 until mid-September. The SDDC has garnered global acclaim, earning the Best Digital Museum Experience award in 2017 and first place in the Best Science & Technology category at the Hoop Awards in April 2018. Hartwig Fischer emphasized its reputation as a leader in digital education.
