Samia Halaby Retrospective at MSU Broad Art Museum
At Michigan State University's Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum, there's a fascinating exhibition titled 'Samia Halaby: Eye Witness' that highlights the nearly seventy years of work by Palestinian American artist Samia Halaby. Curated by Rachel Winter, the exhibit displays over 60 artworks, including paintings, sculptures, and digital pieces, organized by location to show how Halaby’s style has changed across different regions like the Midwest, New York, Europe, and the Arab world. Halaby, who earned her master’s degree at MSU in 1959-1960, was also Yale's first female associate professor of art. The show features interactive components for visitors, and her art is part of major collections at institutions like the Guggenheim and the Art Institute of Chicago.
